ESCALA•Corchado + Arquitectos
is a Architecture and Design firm in Puerto Rico that has been actively involved in providing quality services to both private and pubic clients. Our services include those of Architecture, Urban Design & Planning and Landscape Architecture.
Since its establishment in 1980, ESCALA, has made it possible to offer a more comprehensive service in each field of work; be it Architecture, Urban Design or Landscape Architecture. The integration of these disciplines in our office allow us to study any piece of Architecture, from its relations to its program and the wider urban or natural context; and allows all works of Urban Design to take into consideration its architectural feasibility.
ESCALA has provided us the expertise in institutional, residential, commercial, religious and public commisions, open urban and recreational spaces Profound analysis is given to make the most of the site and the owners resources. All projects are studied in three dimensional form using models and/or drawings to achieve an integrated architectural idea and space relationship. Cost analysis is carefully carried out at the end of each design phase to asses the economic impact of the design descisions. The development of the final construction documents, including a close coordination with our consulting engineers, and a rigorous administration of the Construction Contract; enables ESCALA to transforms the ideas into realities!

the Urban Design experience has allowed ESCALA to make interdisciplinary projects, from large building complexes, through small communities to whole towns; to work within historic and other existing urban centers; and to produce master plans for new developments that generate interest from both public and private sectors.
Our team studies the Urban Structure: dealing with issues like Transportation, Private Developments, Land Uses, Urban Spaces and Others; developing action programs, design strategies, and design guidelines for the coordinated design of an area; identifying sources for financing, and developing techniques for implementation in coordination with municipalities, the central government, private developers and other local interest groups.
In ESCALA we engage conceptual and innovative ideas, were historical and cultural issues, combined with a sensitive approach to our fragile environmental provide a framework to address novel design solutions. Our approach to passive environmental integration has evolved into a sustainability approach in all levels of our envolvement. Each project is supervised by the principal of the firm and coordinated by the Project Architect, who with the help of other Staff Architects is responsable for carrying it through to completion. A serious and responsible approach to Architecture, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture is the constant objective of the firm. This attitude, we believe is the only alternative to provide the future generations. with a better place to live.
